Exceptional Value

Our community is unique for many reasons, but specifically for our unusually low fees, which can be viewed here. The basic monthly fee at New Horizons includes three gourmet homecooked meals daily, activities and special events, weekly housekeeping, parking, all utilities except phone and cable, 24-hour front desk reception, and more.

Another feature that sets New Horizons apart from other senior living residences is our fully refundable entrance deposit, which is held in trust for the resident and returned to either the resident or his/her estate upon the resident's departure from the community.

We are located within walking distance of the many shops and restaurants that Woburn Center has to offer, and minutes from I-95 and I-93. Residents also enjoy taking a quick walk to Horn Pond, a scenic and historic landmark that is stocked with trout every spring for the fishing enthusiast.

Because our community is non-sectarian, it attracts seniors from diverse religious backgrounds. All are welcome to participate in faith-based activities, such as our on-site weekly Catholic Mass and Protestant services, as well as the Jewish services our visiting rabbi holds for major holidays. We also offer transportation to daily Catholic services held at St. Charles Borromeo Church, which is just a quarter mile away.

New Construction

The latest addition to New Horizons at Choate is “Courtyard Suites,” a high-end and newly renovated senior living residence wing with monthly fees between $2,895 and $4,295. Each of its 17 over-sized studio and two-room residences has a unique floorplan and is available for both independent living and assisted living.

The spacious, sunlit units in Courtyard Suites include traditionally upmarket features, such as beautiful views with 6’x8’ bay windows, king-size bedrooms, extra closets, individual climate control, and up to eight windows providing ample natural light. Residents also share well-appointed common areas with modern finishes, including an expansive veranda overlooking a scenic courtyard.

Nonprofit Senior Living

New Horizons’ unusually reasonable rates and attractive amenities are made possible by Cummings Foundation, which owns and operates the senior living community. The Foundation absorbs all cost-of-living and operational increases on behalf of residents, providing them with an exceptionally stable fee schedule. In fact, no New Horizons resident has ever had an increase to his or her basic monthly service fee in more than 25 years.

One of the three largest private foundations in New England, Cummings Foundation awards at least $25 million each year to a diverse group of local nonprofits in Middlesex, Essex, and Suffolk counties in eastern Massachusetts, including many based in Medford.

One hundred percent of New Horizons at Choate residents have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
